The Witherwild is a Daggerheart campaign frame where growth has gone too far. Once a vibrant forest region watched over by ancient spirits, it now exists in a state of endless, aggressive spring. Vines choke roads, rampant growth spreads unchecked, and the land now lives at the mercy of a wilderness that cannot rest.
Whether your party is engaging with the sociopolitics of Haven, uncovering sacred groves warped by ravenous magic, or helping locals navigate the consequences of trying to manipulate the seasons, the right battlemap will do tons of narrative work for any GM. Below are ten maps that show both the beauty of the land, and the dangers lurking beneath it.
1. Forest Pass

This winding Forest Pass is an excellent general-purpose travel map for a campaign set in the Witherwild. The road cuts through dense woodland, with raised ledges climbing up into the trees on either side. A cave-in in the middle of the path suggests natural unrest—or an ambush.
Use this map for any overland travel scenes or an encounter where the party is forced to deal with obstacles created by the land itself. The surrounding elevation gives you plenty of room to make positioning and movement matter, reminding your players that in the Witherwild, the wilderness is in control.
2. Banshee Moor

This dreary Banshee Moor map captures a different face of the Witherwild: waterlogged ground, murky waters, and a collapsed wooden pathway slowly sinking into the mire. The muted flora and creeping rot all depict a land that has been steadily overwhelmed.
This map is a strong choice for hazardous travel encounters, for the broken walkway can turn even a simple escort mission into a challenge. Cleaned and repaired variants of the map also make it easy to show change over time, if the players choose to invest effort in tending to the land.
3. Treant Falls

Few visuals can communicate Witherwild’s tragedy as clearly as this Treant Falls map. A fallen, desiccated treant lies across a forest stream, its massive form collapsed but clutching a single glowing seedling.
This is a great map for seeding moral choices and long-term plot hooks. Is the seedling a chance to restore balance to the area, a dangerous catalyst for more unchecked growth…or something that has the potential to become either?
4. Battlefield Bridge Blockade

This grisly Battlefield Bridge Blockade, littered with bodies and ruined barricades, immediately tells a story of conflict in contested territory. Set deep within the forest, it shows exactly how dangerous even simple travel has become as growth reshapes the land.
Use this map to show your players the human cost of trying to hold ground in Fanewick—whether the party arrives during the battle or in the aftermath of a failed attempt to hold the line.
5. Ancient City Plaza

While much of a Witherwild campaign unfolds beneath tangled canopies and creeping roots, Haven stands in contrast. As the fortified capital of the region, Haven is a place of stone walls and order. This Ancient City Plaza map is an excellent fit for Haven’s civic heart.
Use it for when your party returns to civilization to receive official contracts, or to navigate the political pressures surrounding the Serpent’s Sickness. Because the Witherwild conflict is rooted in competing needs rather than simple villainy, this map also works well for tense social scenes such as faction negotiations or other moments when the consequences of the city’s actions are laid bare in full view of the populace.
6. Dark Wood’s Edge

Few maps can match the Dark Wood’s Edge when it comes to showcasing how the Witherwild has warped the region. A sunny forest path quickly fades into rot and overgrowth where the light has all but faded from the land.
Drop this map into your campaign when you want your players to truly understand that they’re crossing into territory corrupted by the Witherwild—a clear marker that the rules of the forest ahead aren’t the same as the ones behind them.
7. Overgrown Magic Forest

This Overgrown Magic Forest does a great job of showing what makes Fanewick feel old and powerful. Dappled sunlight filters through heavy growth to illuminate a deep pool at the center of a clearing.
This map is particularly well-suited for encounters tied to Faint Divinities or their remnants. With variants that add mushrooms, fairy rings, and even a broken shrine, it’s easy to adjust the space to reflect what spiritual influences still linger in your woods.
8. Yggdrasil Series

The Yggdrasil series of maps depicts different sections of an immense world tree: shadowed roots, a trunk interior, high branches, sweeping treetop vistas, and a little village at its base.
In a Witherwild campaign, these maps give any table a flexible centerpiece location. The serpent variant of the Yggdrasil Roots map, in particular, can add an extra layer of mystical tension and give you an easy way to introduce a powerful presence that could be friend or foe.
9. Fey Village - Swamp

Built around a massive tree rising from a lily-filled lake, this tiered Fey Village map feels both serene and watchful. Homes are carved into massive trunks all around, and the layered platforms make this a good gathering place for powerful figures tied to the wilds.
This is a strong backdrop for introducing figures related to the Faint Divinities, especially one who remembers what the forest once was before the balance was broken.
10. Treetop Dungeon

High above the forest floor, this sprawling Treetop Dungeon captures the strangeness of the Witherwild at its most mythic. Interconnected branches and a vast hollowed trunk paint a picture that feels ancient and deeply powerful.
This map is a strong choice for any climactic encounter, potentially even tied to Nikta, the Great Owl—the Faint Divinity whose broken stewardship lies at the heart of Witherwild’s imbalance.
Whether the party seeks to return what was taken, confront the consequences of that loss, or learn firsthand the consequences of disturbing a divine guardian, the verticality and layout of this battlemap will give the moment the weight it deserves.
The Witherwild works best as a setting when the land itself feels present at the table, beautiful, dangerous, and steeped in tragedy. Thoughtful battlemaps will help carry that weight, giving your players a clear sense of what’s at stake when they step into the forest.
